Ali and Nino: A Love Story

I did not particularly enjoy this book or think it was well-written. None of the characters were compelling or even well-drawn. I couldn't get pat the horrid attitudes toward women ("Woman is just an acre for man to spread his seed." Yuck!!!)

Author was a bit repetitive, but otherwise a good book for making one think about the environment and our economy.

Fascinating life-story.  Unique view of Islam from someone who lived it in 4 countries (Somalia, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya).  I would be inerested to read some critiques of her as I know that she is controversial.

The Last Stand: Custer, Sitting Bull, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn

I read this book because we were planning to stop at Little Bighorn National Battlefield during our summer camping trip.  I knew the very basics about this battle, but not much in the way of details.  This book was very helpful in giving a deeper understanding of the battle and its significance in the wider context of the US-Indian wars.  I particularly enjoyed learning more about the personalities of those involved and how they may have impacted events.

The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl

Fairly dense prose so it took a while to work through it.  Certainly provides perspective on what we're going through (the Great Recession vs the Great Depression).  Things could be so much worse. . .
