These are the stories of a small town that grew up alongside the Baby Boomers who roamed its streets and wrote their own legends upon them. They are stories about the birthrights, beaches and bars of a few lucky generations.

Ingrid Ricks's thoughts on "Manhasset Stories: A Baby Boomer Looks Back"
updated on:1/20/2012

All I wanted to do while reading this amazing collection of stories was blink three times, make a wish and hope that I could switch childhoods and be that girl growing up in Manhasset in the 50s and 60s.

Rosenwasser takes readers back to the magic of growing up in Manhasset, Long Island before it was taken over by the rich and famous. From Christmas in Manhasset (imagine Santa arriving by helicopter each year to visit with children at the local department store) to family outings at the local beach, these stories will leave you longing for a more simple time -- before smart phones, computers, video games and social media took over our lives. There's also a surprise recipe for the coveted popovers served at the much-loved Patricia Murphy's Candlelight Inn Restaurant. I HIGHLY recommend this book, as an eBook or as a gift book that can sit on your coffee table and be enjoyed for years to come. I'm off to purchase my gift book now.

Note: I read an author's note that says a couple of these stories have been published in the New York Times.  That's the caliber of the stories in this collection.
