Based on Stephen Clarke’s own experiences and with names changed to “avoid embarrassment, possible legal action, and to prevent the author’s legs being broken by someone in a Yves Saint Laurent suit,” A Year in the Merde provides perfect entertainment for Francophiles and Francophobes alike.

Sam's thoughts on "A Year in the Merde"

I am a self-professed Francophile, and I always welcome the opportunity to learn more about the country, and especially Paris. This book, written by an English expatriot, is a comical look about day to day living in Paris. It's a very funny book, and terrific to read just prior to a trip to France. Tres bien!
