They say it’s our Birthday! Da Na Na Na Na!!!
We have turned 1 this month!! But we want to say, "Happy Birthday" to you too!!! This celebration is as much about you as it is about us. We have an amazing community here at BookBundlz and we are so proud to be turning 1 WITH you.

FYI - We actually had a little internal debate here at BB... is this a birthday or an anniversary? Anniversary seemed more about us BUT a birthday seemed more of a fun party for all!! So get out your party hats and let the celebrating begin! And there are gonna be presents!!! (So keep reading to find out about them.)

So what's it like being 1 years old? Well... challenging, exciting, full of surprises but most of all EXCITING! Mostly because we have learned a lot from you & are stoked about our plans for the future.

Some of our favorite parts about the first year have to be....

1. To quote a great movie: "If you build it, they will come!" - We now have about 450 Book Clubs and 2700 Clubies and we are growing everyday. Woo hoo!

2. We get to have so many great daily interactions with the BB Clubies and Book Clubs - you guys have sent such great comments, thoughts, suggestions and compliments!! All are always welcome. We thank you so much for them!

3. Because of your great comments & the constant changes in the book world, the ideas never seem to stop. We are often dizzy with the opportunities. We only wish we had more time to develop all of these ideas... but I guess that will come with time. It is after all, our first birthday and we plan on being around for a long time so we can keep rolling out fun ideas as we all grow together!

For instance, we have realized this site is just as popular with the individual as it is to book clubs. How great is that? So look for more opportunities for individuals to become involved with one another in the near future!

And let's not forget that there is so much we can do to help with literacy in this world! We are really looking forward to helping create a world full of readers. Keep your eyes open for more ways you can help campaign for literacy with us.

We are so thankful for such a mind-blowingly interesting and fun first year, and we are excited about the possibilities for the future. We are so happy you are part of this, and we look forward to sharing many more birthday celebrations with you!

Oh, oh, wait a minute! We almost forgot the presents! A birthday does means presents right? So BB has something for you. Check out our BB Buzz section for a sneak peek!

Working Moms and Mother-Daughter Book Clubs
by Cindy Hudson
I’m often asked how working moms can fit being in a mother-daughter book club into their already busy schedules. It is a challenge, but it can be done and I believe the rewards are well worth the effort. Most of the moms in my two book clubs work full or part-time. And most of the moms I interviewed for Book by Book: The Complete Guide to Mother-Daughter Book Clubs work as professionals too. Here are a few tips to make sure book club doesn’t become just one more thing to stress about.

Literacy News:

You Can Turn the Page on Illiteracy

Oh, if the whole world could read, what a world it would be!

We at BookBundlz are committed to connecting communities of readers. Yet, there is an alarming segment of the population that can not read. Worldwide, there are 774 million adults who are illiterate, including 30 million people in the United States over age 16. That's 14 percent of the country's adult population. We do not have to look far to find people who cannot read. Awareness is the first step to helping those in need, both around us, and around the world. When we do so, we are doing something more than simply giving our time or money. We are making a difference in people's lives. Starting next month, in our newsletter, we will begin spotlighting an organization each month that makes a difference in the world in the fight on illiteracy. We hope it is just the beginning of engaging the BookBundlz community in our campaign for literacy. How can you help? Start by visiting BB Campaign for Literacy. And check back for updates each month.

Congratulations booksrulejamie, our winning Clubie!!! She told us she loved her book club because:
"What I love the most about The Book Shelf Dusters is that we have become a family. There are members from 25 to 65 and all agree on what book to read next. We always have a lively discussion of the book we've read along with a lot of fun discussing other books we've read as individuals. Everyone is always making suggestions to other members on books in a specific genre."

Her name was drawn from our "contestant hat" to win! She will receive copies of:
