Can't find discussion questions for your book pick?
We try to provide as many as we can an in a timely manner on our "Discussion Questions" page, but most of the time discussion questions aren't even available for books until it comes out in paperback. So what are we to do? Well, BB to the rescue! We have come up with a list of general discussion questions that we feel can be applied to any book and generate some good discussions. Finding that niche for your Book Club
By: Melissa LR Handa
How do you find your book club's niche? Sure, I guess, it’s possible for your book club to be niche-less, but—believe me—the more guidance you give the group from the get-go, the easier it will be for you to manage later on (and even to attract members initially). Without a theme, you may have a hard time shooting down Fred’s suggestion that you read “Dianetics”…again… Without a theme, you will struggle to find your direction. Every time you need to decide which book to read next, that decision will be a little tougher without that added push in the right direction...

Speaking of Buzzing, here is one of our new sections:

Hot Tip:
On your book club page: How to add a book so it shows up in the area "Current book club book for "my club" is:

1. Click on "add an event" button in the Calendar of Events.
2. As you fill out the event screen, be sure to search and select the book you are reading.
3. After you complete the screen and save the event you will see the book jacket and the opportunity to buy now in the box on your book club page.
4. It will also automatically show up in your "currently reading" book shelf.

Please note:
If you add the book to your currently reading book shelf first, it will not show up in the current book club book area on the right. You must follow the steps above for that to happen. If you get a duplicate book on your shelf because you have utilized both functions....you can remove one of the books from your shelf through the re-shelve function.

Club house Discussion

New Discussion Topic:
Do you think it is good for a book club to have a niche or theme? i.e. The Classics, Jane Austen, Non-Fiction, etc. Does it help keep the club focused, or does it limit what you get exposed to? Or is it a good thing to do for a set amount of time, like "All Oprah picks for the next 6 months"? What has your experience been with themes for book clubs?

Click here to get in on the discussion and let us know what YOU think.

Reese

Do you have a topic you would like to discuss? Don't be afraid to start a discussion topic of your own. The more the merrier, if you ask us. Either on the BB Club House discussion board or on a book page there are lots of good places to start discussions.
